Which year engines are a direct replacement for a 2000 grand w/a 4.0l?

Which engine blocks will be a replacement w/the take out cyl. head?

I have a 2000 grand w/a hole in the #1 bore and need a replacement.

Well I had the same problem so I can help you if you decide to get new engine but have you looked into sleeving the cylinder? I talked to my machinest (VERY good at what he does) and he said that it was possible to sleeve my #2 cylinder for a very reasonable price. I did not sleeve it because I found an engine on craigs list for $600 which was half of what I was seeing them go for. Again I was lucky cause the engine had 5,000 miles on it from a wrecked wrangler. The average price around here was $1000 for around 100,000 miles. I suggest you go to your local engine machine shop and see if they can do it. If not we can research and find out what engines you can use. Not positive but I believe you can use 1999 to 2004 grand cherokee and wrangler but the regular cherokee was different years need to check to make sure. Obviously a 2006 wrangler engine will work but I had to change a couple things from the 2006 to my 1999. Hope this helps!

All 91 and up blocks are interchangeable, although there are variances.
