Default Electrical issues

03 wj with 4.0 auto tranny. My fathers vehicle. Hes having issues with quite a few things but im pretty sure its one culprit causing it all. Theres times when he comes to a stop sign and it will not idle right or die. Times when it will not shift into overdrive. Sometimes if he shuts it off cruising and starts it back up it will shift. His cruise doesnt work. Here recently his turn signals stop working randomly. Before the turn signals stopped working a buddy told me it was something in the steering wheel and now im starting to believe him more.

Turn signal and cruise control might be a clock spring issue.

Would that cause the power Windows to weaken or slow down or the radio to die?

Almost is sounding like it may have a charging system problem. And voltage at the battery is getting too low and large electrical loads start slowing down and the PCM could be going crazy due to low voltage and causing the running issues.

Get the battery load tested by a shop to make sure the battery is still in good condition and have the alternator tested under load too. For the that you can have him turn on the high beam lights, radio, blower fan on high, and the wipers on and check the voltage at the battery. You'll want to see at least 14 volts. All this is of course done with the engine running.

Battery charger read to be good and when he tapped the altinator it snapped out of it so maybe it is a ground issue

Could be but if tapping the alternator fixed it I'd suspect a loose connection there or a bad regulator or diode inside

If there is a lot of miles on this vehicle I would be willing to bet the brushes in the alternator are pretty close to being worn out, tapping on the alternator may have knocked them loose and were able to make contact on the slip rings.

So did the cruise start to work ? If v not check the vacuum line directly under the tb and follow it the servo is located under the battery tray I had a vacuum issue when I bought mine and found the POS PO cut the plug for the servo
