D35 axle will not slide in
I am trying to replace the rear wheel bearing on a D35 with c-clips. I know it is the c-clip version since I can see them inside. I pulled the diff pin out and the two connecting "spider" gears. I know that the axle needs to slide inwards to the diff to get the clip out however my axle will not budge.
Is there anything else that I should/need to remove to get the axle to go in?
I tried hitting it with a hammer and still nothing.
It is not broken, seized or rusty.

Once the crosspin is out, you should be able to push the shaft in and have the C clip just fall out. You should not have to remove any of the gears from the carrier in order to do this.

Im not there to see whats going on but, have you taken off the brake caliper and rotor, also make sure there is not any brake components (parking brake) and wheel speed sensor in the way too. Your basically looking to see if or what the hub flange is hitting something and keeping it from pushing in.

I got it out finally. I think the problem was the bearing being all mangled and what not. Getting the axle to come out of the tube was another pain in the ars since the bearing was muffed up pretty bad.
Thanks for the input and hope this helps someone in the future

That is the best fix for a grooved/gaulded axle, but there are those bearing repair sleeve deals too. Those are better used to get by for awhile but they can be permanent.

I think part of my problem was the axle shaft was worn and had a groove in it.
I was putting everything back together and noticed that the shaft did not fit well in the bearing. I have never taken a solid axle apart before so I just figured it was supposed to have that groove for the bearing to ride in... Wrong
Glad I checked this thread because now I know that I need to replace the axle shaft... $257.00 FML
