2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Cruise light comes on briefly, then goes off. Won't set. Will come on again (briefly) after ignition off sequence. Vacuum lines under battery OK and holding a vacuum. Brake light switch works break lights. Can this switch be defective for cruise and still work lights? Thanks.

Yeah, the brake light switch has about seven wires to it for cruise, stop lights, and ECM. The switch can be bad for cruise control but still work for the brake lights.

 

I'm having this exact problem right now... traced wires everywhere and no solution. If it's the brake switch please post it up.

 

does the 01 ave the clock spring problem?

 

Mine ended up being the brake switch... I would have never figured that.
