Hello felows, im new in the forum, i´m a great lover for outdorrs and of course Jeep tradition.
I have a Grand Cherokee, Laredo 4x4, Mod. 1999. But now i have a problem.
My mechanic uses the computer to deal with a small problem on gasoline system, and the computer run the 0138 code, i know that this is a Oxygen sensor problem, but the fact is that i need to know what should i do with this, just change the sensor or shuold be done some other job along with the sensor change?
The car runs great, but time to time the accelator runs out for a few secouds, then gets normal again, but this is happend more often now.
So, if any one can give me an advice i will be greateful.
Thank you very much.

Does your jeep have a Catalytic Converter? I am asking because I dont know if your jeep was built for export to your country. Are you using leaded gas? I know of more than a few South American countries still sell Leaded gas. An O2 sensor on a car built to American specs will not last long on a car the is fuled with straight leaded gas.

That code is for the sensor downstream of the catalytic convertor. Its an oxegon sensor but some refer to it as a catalyst monitor too. The codes sets when the sensor voltage stays high for an "x" amount of time.
If that was the only code and the engine appears to be running normal, I would just replace the sensor.
