Ok, so I was coming home from work when I feel a "bump" and all of a sudden, my WJ will only shift at high rpm and only shifts twice. At higway speep the poor thing is SCREAMIN'! It's a v8 4.7 with a 45RFE transmission (AWD) and I don't have the $$$ to have someone else fix it, any idea as to what the problem is? Solenoid perhaps?

I am new to jeeps but..........
sounds like a bad transmission, trans computer (which might be built into the pcm, im not sure), or if your lucky its low on fluid.
in my experience a fluid flush can work magic on old transmissions, in fact my old 98 grand Cherokee shifts a little funny - and that's what I'm betting on, trans fluid. its probably never been changed.

Thanks bro. That's my next step, amsoil tranny wash n fill and hope for the best. I figure it's better to start with the easy and work towards the complicated. I have been told that the output sensor (for speedo) can go bad and send the ecu into fault. Prob is, supposedly there is no way to test that unless i take it to a dealer and put it on there cpu...
