How important is the heat shield around the cat? My mother in law said she heard a rattling, I look under the Jeep and the holes had completley worn out and the shield was just sitting there, so I grabbed it out. Is that protecting anything vital? thanks

yes&no=it keeps heat off floor also a cat works at around 800 degrees the sheild also maintains that it doen't always make a difference in either case

Now I know where I will toast my marshmellows! haha Thanks, yes it was rattling bc it was just sitting there on top, so for now it will stay off unless she complains of floor heat. But seeing as no one is usually sitting in the back on the passenger side, no will prob notice.
