Question Backspacing?

I am about to buy new rims. I have an 06 Grand Cherokee Laredo with stock rims and 235/65/17 tires on them. I'm going to be using the same tires with the new rims.

My question is, can I still use the same tires and have no rub with a 5.09 backspacing? If not what size do I need?

Thanks - GCL06

You need to compare the stock backspacing to the backspacing on the wheels your considering.

If your keeping the same tire and not lifting the vehicle you dont want to make the track width too much wider.. as that could put the wheel/tire outside the fenderwell.

I just checked.. an 05 WK should have 6.25" BS, 5.00" would move the tire out 1 1/4" on each corner. Take a good look and turn wheels etc seeing if this size would work for you.

I'd actually prefer to have the tire sticking out a bit, I'm just concerned with rub and the tires I already have fitting.
