Hello Everyone,

I've ready several threads and have searched for help on my jeep, but to no avail.

We have a 1993 Limited, Automatic, Full time 4WD w/ the 5.2L V8.

To the best of my knowledge, the transmission is the original transmission in the jeep, but the motor was refreshed ~20k miles before we purchased it.

For the first several months, everything worked perfect, however recently it's become a permanent fixture in our driveway as I cant figure out the transmission.

From a cold start, the transmission shifts into gear fine. After ~10 miles of driving, the transmission 'slips' out of gear and wont go back into any gear (including reverse). I have to turn the key off and fire it back up. At that point it will shift into gear (most of the time), but only for 1-200 feet, then pops back out of gear.

I've replaced the neutral safety switch and also reset the linkage to ensure it didn't have anything to do with the location of the shifter... no luck, symptom persists.

I believe the maintenance schedule for that drivetrain combination requires that you adjust the bands when servicing the fluid on the transmission. Do you know the maintenance history of the Jeep? Did you service the transmission when you bought it and adjust the bands?
