I thought you just ran the remote wire off one of the rear speaker wires, but I could be wrong.

I've always found it better and nicer to use an aftermarket deck, but to each his own!

Yeah I just don't want to lose the controls on the steering wheel

Then attaching to the rear speaker wire may be the way to go.

Is it passive or amplified? Go over to their site, good info there.

No you don't splice the remote into the rear speakers, you splice in RCA outputs (red/white cable). Then for the remote wire, just tap into an ignition wire.

You need one of these if you plan to use your stock stereo bud.

You can still hook it up via stock stereo wires. A line converter would be better because they have a filter in them that filters out the high level and only lets through low level which is which you want for bass. There are manuals in pdf form on their web site if you know the model number of the tube you have. The only time you won't be able to use you steering wheel controls is when you go to an aftermarket stereo.

I knew it was something like that, I just didn't remember what exactly.

So after some looking at the bazooka site I found there some diagrams and what they call the fast 999 connector is seems very easy to just match the colors and plug and play

Let me know how this works, I'm interested in adding something to my stock system.

Just an FYI, a CD player generally produces very little distortion, a nice new deck with all the fancy stuff is cool and all but probably won't sound much better. I can't speak for the stock amp's though, no clue what their distortion rating is. Does anyone else know?

An aftermarket head unit will generally sound better than stock. Aftermarket stereo outputs for speakers are usually 4 ohms. Some stock speakers are 8 ohms.Thats where you will hear the difference. Also, some aftermarket head units have a separate sub woofer out which you can control the level going to the sub, as in volume. Aftermarket head units also have a remote turn on wire that turns the amp on when the stereo is turned on. If you use a stock head unit, a turn on wire has to be run to the amp from the ignition, not a constant 12v line. Some bazooka tubes have an auto sensing circuit that turns it on when it senses voltage to the speaker inputs, some don't.

you have to run a remote wire from the back or the deck and you will have to run a power wire from your battery and also a ground wire from the amp and hook up your rcas then you should be good

Some aftermarket stereos can actually be used with your steering wheel controls, some just require an adapter
