Default Adjustable upper control arms and pinion angle

So I just bought a set of adjustable upper control arms to try to get my front pinion angle in order. I have a set of fixed lower arms and the cam bolt doesn't provide enough adjustment in it to get my drive line to stop howling . I'm thinking i can do the exchange without pulling the front springs using a floor jack and regular car jack to push the top of axle enough to fit in the longer control arms. Anyone who has any pointers before I try it this weekend please chime in.

My second question was on the length of the upper control arms should be adjusted to. My lowers control arms are longer than the stock ones. I still have my stock lowers so I was going to measure the difference and add that to the length of the stock upper control arms as a starting point on my new adjustable uppers. Anyone have any input on the length I should start with? I have to pull the upper control arms off (or at least one end) to make adjustment in length, so I thought i would ask first.

Thanks

Well I got the new upper control arms installed. If any one is interested the stock lower arms measure 15 3/4" eye to eye & the aftermarket ones I bought measure 16 1/2". The stock upper control arms measure 15" eye to eye and I set the length on the aftermarket upper adjustable arms to 15 1/2". At this point I guess I need to get my ZJ on a flat level piece of concrete and see if I can measure the castor angle. My pinion angle is better, but I could point it even more transfer case once I know where I'm at with the castor.

Any input is welcome here, I'm not a alignment person.

I'm about ready to order some adjustable uppers too and am very interested in the measurments you ended up with. I've got a 6inch RC lift with fixed RC lowers that look allot like yours. This pic was taken on an outing this weekend right before the Daytona 500 started, good day.

Nice Rig Rockhead.

I wound up with with 15 3/4" on the uppers, but the ZJs have a cam bolt on the lower control arms that let you tweak the camber a little as well. I would think with 6" you might have to go a little longer than I did on your uppers to get the pinion angle good...(lol, I still don't have a degree # for my castor). I'll try to measure the castor angle by taking a degree measurement parallel through upper and lower ball joints this weekend.
