Unhappy 98 Laredo stalling, losing rpms..

Hey guys

Okay, here's what's going on. For quite a while now my 98 Laredo will stall and act like it wants to die when slowing down or taking off from a start. If I throw it in neutral and restart it when it does this, it starts to run fine again. When it stalls I lose all rpms and I am unable to accelerate,( I can push the gas pedal to the floor and nothing happens). Anyone have any ideas? Oxygen sensor maybe? Thanks for any advice or help.

It hasn't thrown any codes and when I took it to my mechanic the only thing they could find was a "faulty battery cable" which they said they replaced but didn't and the problem wasn't fixed obviously. It's a straight 6, 4.0.

have you done any mudding lately? sometimes this can be a result of a clogged cat. also i would take a look at your TPS to make sure its functioning properly. other then that i will wait for more ideas from other members.

sounds like either a throttle position sensor or possibly a fuel pump. but either way i would've thought it would've thrown a code.

exactly my thoughts, those symptoms generally always throw codes.
