98 Grand Cherokee - overdrive issues
I just purchased a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 6cyl, auto w/select trac 115k.
The engine light is on and the previous owner said the codes where e-3 and e-4 (something to do with the transmission solenoids). I have also heard could possibly be the TP sensor. My issue is, the jeep will go in and out of over-drive and sometimes will not even go into overdrive all together. The other 3 gears shift normal. I know there is some type of temperature sensor that will affect the overdrive when the tranny is too hot. I do not believe that is the issue though. The truck is operating at normal temp (about 250 degrees - needle is half way on the gauge never past). Other then the transmission issue the truck is "MINT".
Any direction would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks in advance Charlie Z

250 degrees is not normal, really hope it isnt there. If it is u got problems. Take it to any auto parts store and get it scanned for codes, never trust PO
