After searching the web, I'm guessing this is a fairly common problem.
I just picked up a '98 Grand Cherokee Limited and drove it 400+ miles back form Florida---Aside from a couple of problems I knew about it did fine on the trip back. After a couple of days of sitting, the battery was drained. I replaced the battery with a new one and it also drained after a couple of days. The local repair shop ran an electrical systems check and all checked out. It seems to be OK running and charging, but if it sits for a couple of days something brings the battery down.
Now a new problem has developed that may be related. None of the instrument gauges or lights work---no tach, speedo, oil pressure, voltmeter, fuel gauge, nada.

I found a lot of references to this problem on the internet but no one seemed to have a solution.

Anyone got any ideas?

The shop I took it to had put a fuse in the wrong place---idiots.
My bad for not double-checking their work but I really shouldn't have to.
