I have a 98 grand cherokee that i just bought but my rear dorr hatch and my drivers side rear doors are stuck closed and needed some help on a way to open them. I have tried pushing and pulling on the rear hatch but still no luck. Thank you

 

Not sure about the regular rear door. But the rear hatches can be a pain. Try pushing the rear hatch in a little while pulling the release. The linkages get a little tweeked and does not release properly all the time. If you get it open, remove the inside cover and make sure the linkage is not bent a little. Or check the 2 bumpstops on the hatch as well. Hope that helps

I have a 98 grand cherokee that i just bought but my rear door hatch and my drivers side rear doors as well as the rear glass are stuck closed and needed some help on a way to open them. I have tried pushing and pulling on the rear hatch but still no luck.also i got part of the rear hatch panel off just enough to be able to get the rear window open dont think the motor that opens it is working.As for the Rear drivers side door the lock is stuck so i cant unlock it and also the child safety switch might be on not sure though any help getting it open and unlocked would help. Thank you guys for your help

 

My 98 xj rear hatch was like that when I bought it also, You have to take the panel off the back from inside the best you can. Some skrews you aren't gonna be able to get too, but you can still pry it out enough to pull the mechanism manually. When you get the door open, take off the panel competely and try to adjust the threaded rod that is about 6 inches long. I put mine all the way to the bottom of the chamber that it is in...I wish I could explain it better...anyway and make sure you put some white lithium grease or something similar all over the moving parts. Now open and close the door to make sure it works before you put the panel back on. It's kinda a PIA but its well worth the hour or so youll waste...good luck
