Default 98 GC clunking noises on the rear driftshaft ?

Did i really say driftshaft.... Man im losing it.. I mean driveshaft

Im pretty sure this is comming from the driveshaft.

When i go from drive to reverse, and then reverse to drive and i let go of the brake fast when doing it the car will make a "POP" noise and i can feal it comming from the back of the vehicle. It sounds like the driveshaft is snapping in position once torque is applied. It does this when the vehicle is moving past 15mph and is about to shift into next gear, and as soon as you let go of the gas to slow down right as it shifts it will snap again (When it shifts more torque is applied and if you let go of the gas as soon as it does this then the shaft is loose.

It also does this when im driving slow like 5-10mph and if i let go of the Gas and then step on it quickly and then let go and repeat it i can hear the drive shaft snapping when i give it gas really quickly. Does this make sense to anyone ? Its been doing this for years and my mom ignored it but now that its my vehicle i want to know what it is. Drives perfectly and shifts fine, However im reading things like it could be the U joint or the transfer case ?.

I went under the car and grabbed the rear driveshaft and i wasnt able to budge it, it was solid and wouldnt move. When i grabbed the front driveshaft its really loose, I am able to twist it maybe half an inch in either direction (when i say twist i mean turn it as it would turn while driving) before it stopped and if i move it fast enough i can hear a clunk noise comming from the transfer case when it stops, So i really think this is deff where its comming altho i dunno if this is a bad transfer case or if this a U joint ?. However why would it do this on the front drive shaft if the car is in 2WD ? Or does that not matter ?

Its kinda embarrasing going through parking lots when you have to go slow and speed up after speed bumps then slow down again. Usually when i drive through them the car shifts at least once but when its about to shift and does i let go of the gas pedal to slow down again and itll POP. If you were standing next to the vehicle you could deff hear lol..

Also when the car is driving slowely (less engine noise so i can hear it) and i turn the steering wheel i can hear a noise comming under the car. Almost like a sqweeking noise (spelling) if i turn left then right ect. Like if i park the car and turn i can hear it.. Its def comming from the steering. I looked under and the hydrolic bars (I dunno what they are called but they look like the hydrolic arms on machines) that are connected to the steering wheels are dry and there is absolutly no grease on the shiny metal . Also the steering parts in general that have grease on them the grease is pretty much dried up and breaks apart when i touch it.

Should i get some new grease and regrease everything ? or leave it alone. Do you guys know what im talking about ?

Replace the ujoints, they're cheap and easy to replace. Chances are you'll need them sooner or later anyway.

Ok I changed the transfer case fluid, but im wondering how much am i suppose to put in the transfer case ? I unplugged the top screw first then the bottom and let it all drain out until it stopped dripping.. Might i say the fluid was pretty much black. According to Advance auto parts for the 98 4x4 inline 6 select trac, i need to use Dextron 11 transmission fluid.

I read online people used ATF +4. However since the computer said dextron 2 thats what i got. I also bought one of those little pumps. I put the bottom screw back on and filled up the transfer case with a little over 1 1/2 Quarts until it started to come out of the top. Was that enough fluid ? I assume thats how your suppose to do it.

I was wondering. Is the chain suppose to be sorta loose ? When it was drained i stuck my finger inside and the chain i was able to wiggle around and push back pretty good actually.

So does anyone know what could be causing the eep to clunk like that ? Its deff comming from the back of the vehicle when it does it.. You can hear when driving..

If it was the front driveshaft with it being able to twist like a motorcycle handle then it would clunk in the front or middle... However it does this in the back
