the 4.0 is NOTORIOUSLY noisy(and leaky),mostly the lifters. i've had several and they all have had noisy lifters and not much cures it,but it ain't hurtin nothin...however lifters are more of a "tick" get under your hood and try to pinpoint it's origin

alright thanks seed will try to locate exactly where its coming from and get back to ya and actually just put the GC in to a transmission friend and front bell housing on the transmission had a gone seal and was down so much fluid that there might be some damage to the tranny so hes rippin it apart for me and seeing if it needs rebuildingor a new one, a dry tranny could have contributed to that clickin sound I will let ya know when its out of the shop. thanks

sounds like the tranny might well be the source of the noise then

rebuild is better then a used one anyway if done right. Used one could have done the same thing in 2 weeks. Glad to hear you got her fixed up.

can you give a better explanation of the sound and the speed of the sound. what seems to get it started ie: speed, does it change with coasting, does it change if you gently apply the brake. Can you hear it when not moving?
