Keep in mind, the 97 had the tiniest original tire of all: P215/75R15. I bought those (BIG mistake) and was stuck in my driveway for this last snow in MD. All 4 tires spinning. With stock suspension...can I use 235's? I have mixed use - 100 miles at 75mph then 100 miles on snowy WV mountains to the ski resort. What brand/model?

 

Yea 235 will work fine. When I bought my 98 the previous owner had put 235 on it.

 

Keep in mind your spare has to be the same size as the other 4 tires you replace. Probably doesn't matter if you're running snow tires but the owners manual says not to use chains if you have the 16" tires. Just an FYI. I'm glad I went with all terrain tires because I was unaware of this.

 

My buddies 96 came with 245/75R/15s stock, so a 235 should fit easy.

 

I've got 245x70x16"s on my '97 ZJ.
