Default 97 Grand Cherokee loses idle, stops running

I have a 97' Grand Cherokee Limited, straight 6, 4.0 with 164,000 miles.

Problem: The car won't hold idle and stops during driving. Sometimes it will appear to be OK at startup but still goes into this routine. For a while, during Winter (cold and snow here), it seemed to almost NOT have this issue, but that was short-lived.

I've taken the car to three mechanics over the course of a year with no solve.

Computer: The computer shows "ignition coil."

What's been done: Replaced Cam Shaft Sensor, Ignition coil and starter.

Also replaced muffler- supposedly related to this issue (huh?) and exhaust leak.

Has anyone run into this issue? Any idea as to what it is? What to do?

Thank you

Has anyone checked the Throttle Position Sensor?
And Welcome to CF!

I don't think so Dan. In another forum they suggest servicing the IAC, ASD, then on to fule pump and ECM.

Thanks for the help and thanks for the welcome.

Sounds like the IAC motor is failing.
