97 GC 5.2 Noise in rear??
Hello all again.. I have a 97 grand cherokee 5.2.. I have had this issue for a whole since I bought the Jeep in rough shape and I have been working on getting to where I want, well anyways..
I have a noise sounds like a bearing but coming from the cargo area directly in the center of the rear? Are there any common issues? Best WAT to check/test to narrow this issue down would be great.. Thanks again I hope someone has some insight..

My '97 5.2L w/the D44a rear axle had noises when I bought it. I took it to a repair shop. It had a bad pinion bearing, bad carrier bearings, damaged ring and pinion gears, and the wheel bearings needed replacing. They claimed it was because of a bad seal and very low fluid/ poor maintenance. So I had them fix it.

It cost me a little over $1,200 with all new parts and labor a few years ago. I don't know how to set the depth/ pattern on the gears, so I wanted it done correctly.
