I'm in need of some info. I have to replace the rear end on my 96 Jeep grand cherokee loreado and was wondering what year jeep, jeep cherokee, and grand cherokee rear ends I can put in without any modifications. just bolt in.

Any rear form a 93 to 98 grand will work but the 93-95 have drum brakes. There were two rears that were used, the Dana 35 and Dana 44a. Both are c-clipped but the 44a is a bit stronger. There were two ratios used as well 3.55 and 3.73 so if it's 4wd you will need to match the ratios.

3.73 gears are in all the v8 and somone correct me if I'm wrong but I beleive they were in strait 6 with the factory tow package.
Thank you.... If I get a drum brake rear end, I should be able to bolt on my disk brake backing plate and hardware correct. Is it common for these pinion bearings to completely go out? I bought this grnd cherokee with the rear end out and the pinion bearing is soo bad that it just flops around in there.. I drove it home like this.. grinding n clunking... paid only $500.00 for this rust free grand cherokee with 130,000 miles on it.

If the gears aren't shot it would be cheaper and easier to just replace the bearing. And yes you should be able to swap over the disc.
