My dad has a 96 grand cherokee v8 he was driving down the hwy at least 70 mph when he lost steering control and the jeep started shaking and rattling real bad and he claims the brakes were not working as well. lucky he was on a strait part of the hwy. He lost all control of jeep until it hit 30 mph then it worked fine. I have a 99 sport and have never heard of a problem like this with jeeps let alone any other vehicle. Any clues?

 

thats called death wobble, and its NOWHERE near a new or uncommon problem. do a search on here, you'll probably find a few dozen threads about it

 

Give some info about the GC. Is it lifted. Any parts replaced lately. Is everything stock, etc

thanks, It has no lift kit and it is stock.

 

Put it on jackstands and verify joints, trac bar shocks etc oh and check rotors too to see if they are warped
