My friend has a 95 zj. I am not able to look at it for a few days and was wondering what everyone thinks what is wrong with it. Its a 95 with a 4.0 4x4 it has 145k. Here is what he says is going wrong with it:

Turn the key. Jeep starts, give it gas it bogs down
then backfires air through the air filter then dies. 2 days ago I gave it a complete tune up
thinking it was a bad wire/plug causing my problem (it wasn't)

He brought it somewhere and they said the map sensor or the mass air flow sensor.
Any help or input is aprreciated.

Could also be crank position sensor. Check to hear if the fuel pump primes when the key is turned on but not running. This is a sign of a bad CPS. 1 bolt. about 70-80 bucks I believe.
