i was driving yesterday looking for deer and my son and i spotted a few. so i backed up to look at them. then when i went to take off the trans seemed to slip for a half mile or so. it acted like it was slipping but shifting when it did it. i stopped put it in park and shifted through all the gears and put it back in drive and it works fine know. reverse worked fine the whole time this was going on. it is a 95 zj with the 5.2L awd. it has 162XXX on it. i do not know the service history on the trans. fluid level seems to be good. fluid isnt burnt but is not the cleanest. it hasnt went into overdrive since i had it. so i was gonna change the od solenoid and do a tranny service on it with some lucas. should i do this without knowing the history. it has slipped a few tmes in the mornings going into first but all i had to do is wait asecond or to and it worked fine. just looking for some advice on it. thanks

Mine slips in 1st then 2nd 3rd and overdrive work fine. I stop then restart and everything works great for a few days. So far the advice I've been given is replacing the trans filter, and was told that it is most likely one of my sensors starting to fail. most likely the transmission speed censor. I know this is very little help. Let me know what it was. I'm rolling the dice on mine because I'm 600 miles away from home working 12 hours a day 7 days a week right now. I just hope itt lasts me until wednesday when I'm suppossed to be gettin her back home.

I also think the reason you got no real help on this is because there is just a billion things going on inside the transmission. A lot of people viewed it...people just probably all have the same advice like I was given,,,,go to a shop...too many things it could be. anyways....good luck again.
