95 jeep grand cherokee

recently hearing a "popcorn" sound under the hood when accelerating. what could that be?

Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter

Oil full? Running too hot? Hiding Orval Reddenbaucker under the hood?
What engine do you have?
