I’m trying to research where to buy 42re rebuilt kits for my 2wd auto transmission. I don’t know anything about what I should buy or what to look for as far as maybe improving it for shifting and what not. Any info would help.

 

Cascade Transmission Parts is where I purchased my governor pressure switch, transducer and output shaft OD sensor. They also have excellent YouTube videos/tutorials including band adjustment(s)

How do define “rebuild kit[s]”? What’s the objective?

 

Is just to rebuilt my 42re transmission because I lost 3rd gear and I know it’s probably just a shift solenoid but I bought it a while ago and I don’t know how long it’s been sitting and when I pulled it it’s already a junkyard transmission so I’m just looking to rebuilt it with new parts and just trying to see where is the best place to buy a rebuilt kit for the transmission.

 

I want to help, but what you describe is very vague- in my opinion. Ie any codes, not shifting when cold or hot, blah blah?
I have a 2001 WJ, orig owner, pristine and meticulously maintained since Day 1 by me. Here and other WJ forums I have provided details about 42RE trans codes/issues at 187k(or so) and compete resolution- shifts now like the day I left the showroom.
