95 grand cherokee 4.0 head gasket and tapping from engine please help!!!!
SubscribeI have a 95 grand cherokee 4.0 i6 4x4. everyday i start the engine it make a small knock/ticking sound for the engine somewhere, it only makes that noise when the engine is cold once warm it going away and it fine? another question i just checked the oil and it seems milky so im guessing its the head gasket. would anyone be able to help me one on whats going on and any suggestions if i do the head gasket if i should rebuild some of the engine or what should i do?

It could an exhaust leak at the manifold flange gasket. What is the oil pressure when you first start up?
the oil pressure is between 40 and 50.

That is good oil pressure, you sure the top end is getting oil?

I think the noise you might be hearing is piston slap. This is normal on the 4.0 motors and does not effect the longevity of the motor. do a google search on piston slap jeep 4.0 liter motor and you will see you aren't alone. It's 100% normal.

These engines are prone to noise, but are almost bullet proof. We had a 94 XJ in our fleet at work with a pretty noisy engine, but is was a rocket the never broke down or used oil.
