'95 4.0 2WD Grand Cherokee Transmission and other issues
The transmission was hesitating to shift at first. So I used some trans fix type fluid i got from o'rielly's. seemed to be ok for a little bit. then I noticed when i was at stop lights the jeep had trouble idling and would drop low (under 500rpms or so if i would gas it or put it in neutral). well its gotten worse and now the jeep doesnt have reverse. what do you guys think the deal is here?
since i dont have reverse i dont put my self in a situation i may need to put the vehicle in reverse. It would be entirely too easy for me to go to a shop and have them try to play around with me.. or even have to put it into the shop and they try to screw with me and i dont have a clue to whats going on. Im not trying to spend money for no reason. simply "take it to a transmission shop", is pretty simple when its not your car and you dont really care which is fine but this is my car and i dont have money or time to waste with a bunch of pecker heads at a shop. not to mention i dont even know a reputable shop in this area that i would or could trust. If i have to i will replace it (transmission) myself. Because i dont have money to be playing around and not having my daily driver because im trusting people i dont know that are trying to get money from me. I would rather trust people that i dont know who at least have a common interest and may have been there and done that a few times.
seriously i said all that to say that i could have brought it to a transmission shop without having to sign up to be on this forum and going through the trouble of making a post. but im trying to avoid having to pay the cost of doing that.
