94 GC shifting problems

94 GC shifting problems
GC Laredo with tow package not down shifting. If I select 1 or 2, it starts in 2nd. If I select D, it starts off in high. Changed fluid and filter. Parts store told me tranny was for V8 but I have a 4.0. Any suggestions?

You have a 42RE transmission built by Chrysler. Unplug the TCM that is next to the air filter and plug it back in, then test drive and see if there is a change.
