Just picked up a project for my son and I. 94 ZJ with a 5.2l that doesn't really want to run. Starts some times and idles barely, sometimes it will only stay running with the throttle wide open but only turning about 500rpm, sometimes will start and run and you can rev it up but then will shortly stall out. Things I have checked so far, good spark, fuel pressure 35-42 psi even when it stalls, TPS and MAP sensor tests show that they are working. I did disconnect the injectors and the motor will idle fine on starting fluid so there seems to be an issue with the fuel control system. Our family has a TJ and a JKU so this motor is a little new to me. Looking for some help as I proceed to try and track down the problem. Thanks

 

That fuel pressure is a bit low. Spec is 49psi plus or minus 5psi.

 

I figured it out. The problem was that the distributor was loose therefore the timing was off which also effected fuel delivery.
