Default 700 rpm for idling in drive and neutral?

Usually other cars I drive get about 1k rpm if they are running in neutral at a stoplight. My new '95 jeep doesn't seem to do this. It stays at 700 rpm while running in neutral or drive. I did however notice that when I went through a taco bell drive-thru, I put the truck in N and a few seconds later, the rpm's jumped to 1k and the truck idled a bit smoother. This 700 rpm issue happens regardless of the engine temp being cold or fully warmed up.

Could this be the sign of a failing TPS? I recently had a tune up done for the plugs, wires, and a complete throttle-body cleaning. I may replace the TPS regardless as I hear they may fail around the 150k mark. My truck is now at 165k miles.

Thoughts?

Mine idles at 750, you may have IAC problem. Throwing a TPS at it just because is just a waste pf money.

700 RPM is about normal for a jeep

So it don't matter that the rpm's don't increase when the engine idle's in NEUTRAL?

If its under 30 degrees mine will idle higher, otherwise its 700 in gear or neutral.

Default How to increase Jeep rpm?

Hi, our car: Grand Cherokee '97, 4x4, automatic transmission, 65,000 miles, injectors have been recently cleaned, sparkling plugs checked, cables checked, air valve checked. However during idle it shows 500 rpm, which makes the whole car shake like a tree during windy storms! As I push the throttle after a stop, it sounds like if gas takes time to go through or so, it makes a sound like a clogged pipe until it hits more than 1000 rpm. Mechanics don't seem to find the way to tune it up so I am begging you, do you have any idea on how to increase the rpms?
Could this be related with the distributor positioning? or TCM issues perhaps?
What else can I do to keep on testing which part could be malfunctioning?
Thanks in advance for your responses. I'm going crazy here.
Cheers.

Lady Jeep going crazy because mechanics seem to be mucking at her...

Could be a clogged exhaust, couldn't really be sure without looking at it.

Ok guys, how is this for a related question...

Every once in a while, in neutral gear, my rpm's will go from 700 to 1000 rpm's and the jeep vibrations will disappear and the Jeep will run super smooth. The jeep runs so smooth then it's as if the truck is not running, but it is.

What gives?

I wish it would always run this smooth whenever I'm in neutral, or just sitting at a light in drive-gear idling.
