Not sure on the year, but I can get my friend's old ZJ with a blown transmission and a 4.0 for the cost of the impound fee. Still ran great when the trans died. Do these have an AW4 like an XJ or is it some other weird transmission?
I may or may not get it but it would be a fun project

 

its a 42re most likely and for 500 I would buy it

 

If it's early 93, it may have the AW4. But all the other years with the 4.0 have the Chrysler 42RE. It's not a bad transmission, it's just not as bullet proof as the AW4.

 

I just pick one up myself, friend at work had a girl he new that threw the tranny in her zj. She wanted 500 as well, I looked at it told her sence it don't run and have no clue what else could be wrong I talked her down to 350. These tranny don't come easy it seems took a while to find one on craigslist but I'm putting it in tomorrow. If it's a good friend give him 500, if it's just someone u know try and get it down 50-100 bucks it ya can
