Hey,

I have a 2001 Grand Cherokee Laredo, and heres what i get when going through the selector

2WD - no light
4 part time - 4 part time light
4 all time - No light
4 low - 4 part time light

my concern is that there is no light for the full time 4WD, and when in 4LOW the part time light comes on, which i'm sure it shouldnt. I can feel it shifting into low, which is good, but curious why it would do this? sense issue? or maybe alignment..? Any one able to shed some light? Thanks guys

 

I'm not 100% certain on this, but i'll take a guess here. I'm sure someone else will chime in. The indicators are only supposed to come on in 4 low and 4 part time, the reason being is you're not supposed to leave the TC in those gears for an extended period of time. Whereas 4 all time, you can drive around with the TC in that gear, all the time if you wanted to. In fact, there isn't even an indicator for 4 all time.

 

yeah i've pretty much read the same thing you've posted in anything i've researched, that theres no indication for 4high (all time) which is cool, but strange.. any 4WD (non jeep) i've ever had has had an indication... it just seems odd too that 4Part Time and 4Low share the same indication, and not a seperate 4Low light.. oh well!
