Hi everybody, Im new to the Jeep world (4wd world for that matter). My girlfriend has a 97 Cherokee. Her ex-husband, for some reason, removed something from the front end to make this 4wd only work as a 2wd. My questions are, what would one do to make this possible? And is there a common problem with the 4wd system to make someone want to do this rather than fix the problem properly. I haven't had much time to look at the vehicle yet but was hoping to this weekend. I was just hoping for some help on what to look for when trying to fix the problem properly, she really needs the 4wd. Thanks to all in advance.

Most likely the front driveshaft if there was a bad u-joint making the Jeep vibrate.

maybe he got the shaft in the divorce settlement....haha that's awesome. Either the drive shaft or maybe the front diff went bad and he took the gears out and didn't replace them.......lol I don't know.......
