42RE shift kit

42RE shift kit
I bought a superior transmission shift kit part #K500-618-L. I was curious to know if anyone has installed this kit or one similar? Ive been reading every blog I can find about shift kits for the 42RE trans and I'm getting mixed signals whether or not you have to pull the tranny or just the valve body. If anyone knows, fill me in please.
