Hello jeep peeps. sorry to start another thread about this transmission rebuild. My transmission what slipping and grinding so me and a friend swapped it with a junkyard transmission. a few months later it clapped out on me. So im having a friend of a friend rebuild it but i need the kit. problem is: ive seen alot of kits that vary in price and piece quantity. anybody have a website search engines always bring up eBay) a brand i should purchase?

also interested in the pros and cons on the AW4 swap and what I would have to modify. And if the AW4 is gas friendly for a daily driver/road tripper. Greatly appreciate any suggestions

A AW4 swap will cost you more and will be a major pain in the butt to do, if you can get it to work without a check engine light. Not worth it.

Im going with Rockauto when mine craps out....good price..great warranty, and they claim they upgrade the internals that have known weak items with better parts.

I dont want to invest $1500 on a transmission in a vehicle that has so many Nic nac problems already. Windows and wiper motors plus other electrical issues to deal with. I know a guy with a friend that is a teacher at a technical school. I can get the labor done for free and the transmission will be installed. I just have to get the correct rebuild kit and possibly sensors. Its the only real option i have besides selling it for a $2500 loss and starting over when tax money shows up.

I'm ordering the rebuild kit from rockauto. OMIX-ADA Part # 1900101 deluxe rebuild kit. Can anybody tell me what the plug/sensor is on the 42re in between the input and output sensor. Hard to explain its location. I see it on diagrams but it doesn't say what it is. I've called up auto stores and looked on rockauto and couldn't seem to find the ty (or kick down) cable. Would that be a dealer only part? Also one more question: how many quarts of fluid will I need? Including what I need to prime the new torque converter.
