42re 2wd to 4wd swap?

Exclamation 42re 2wd to 4wd swap?

alright the tranny in my 95 gc is out and a friend of mine has a 2wd tranny for me but i dont know if i can convert it to 4wd.. can i?? how do you do it? i need lotta help for this

I do not recall how the case on the 42re is setup but would be cheaper/easier to find a 4wd (possibly t-case as well) trans to swap in. If you have a V8 there are more vehicles you can use a trans from.. Ram, dakota, durango. If you can get at least a 46re

All you have to do is take off the OD unit (the tail part) from the 2wd and put the one from the 4wd trans on it.
I'll try to find the link from another forum where somebody did it and has pictures of what I am talking about.
