Default 3 Inches won't do it for her but will 3" work for a GC?

Ok so now that I have all the "perv's" attention
3 Inches won't do it for her but will 3 inches lift be enough to clear 31 inch Dunlops?

I bought a 93 GC and want to just give it boost using the rubber 3" coil spring poly's and use my good tires and nice Grand Prix 5 star mags.

If a 2" lift will work do tell as this will save a few bucks as I don't plan on making another major offroad truck as I have the sky high Blazer in the yard.

Thanks Guyz

Yes it's good, you can clear 31's with a 2" BB on a ZJ

I just did a 2" spring lift.
I put 31s on. Looks like this

Pretty happy with. Love the ride, I do have a slight rub on the bottom corner of the pas side. That bumper cover. I plan on building a bumper that will hold my winch so I am not worried about that. I think with stock wheels I would not rub at all. These wheels set the tires out a couple inches and that is why the rub.

COOL!
Guys keeps the pics and info coming.
1. All of you are pushing me to do what I don't want to do LOL
I already have a nice K5 that is lifted and built.
I'm trying to keep the GC mild and not wild.

2.$$$ aside I'm thankful I have my own welders and can weld so anything I need that I can fabricate will come cheap. $900 for a bumper? Yeah ok when pigs fly!

3. the 2" looks like it might just be fine but 3" looks better LOL
But, seems like for the price I can buy springs all around.

4. Was it a mistake to buy a GC with coils on all 4 corners?

5. I don't see many GCL's here!!!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
Sorry I think they look better than the box types. (Minus the hideous front bumper)

6. I don't mind major lift at all, I do mind the price I have to pay for driveshafts! (Disabled here so $ is now limited)

7. If I don't get my front 3:55 diff cheap soon I might go off and go ape and just put way bigger diffs in this thing.

8. I admit I am a little lost with these "toy trucks".
Chevy's I can just cut and weld what I want. or snag it somewhere.

unlees your gonna rock crawl, id say just enough lift to get it done. since you wont get anymore ground clearance under the drive train, it makes no sense to go higher than whats needed to clear the tires (with suspension movement). also, the lower ride means a lower center of gravity. thats more stable on the road, and off.

i said all that to say this, if youre gonna be flexing the crap out of the suspension, then yes go higher. if you just want a certian look, go higher.

but if you want it to preform, and drive on road and off, the best it can, keep it as low as the tires can stand.

just my opinion.

Wishful thinking that does not exist in the jeep world. We all go light, then mild, and finally extreme. It's bound to happen no matter how much you hold back.

Ya Know you got that right!
I'm sitting here looking at pics and parts thinking at some point I might as well just go all the way.
Right now there is a mismatched (brand) tires and it kills me and I want my Dunlops on the darn thing.

I just have to learn more about the drive lines on these things.
I cut and weld my own shafts and then have them balanced at a local shop.
Last summer I found the BEST material to use on my K5 transfercase drop and hope the same works on the Heep.
Restaurant grade Corian cutting board is fantastic. It's hard but doesn't crack in the cold or split in the heat and best of all, NO SQUEEKS.

If it helps any, in the next week or so I'm lowering mine down to 3.5"(removing the BB)from the 5.5" it's at now. It's worth the ride just to run 32's instead of 31's.. PLus I found it was more fun at 3.5" of lift...

I took mine out again, we have a field here with a couple hills on it. no challenge as far as 4 wheelin but there is enough rough stuff and ruts and to test the cars ability to get through. It rides so much better then stock. I did notice quite a loss of power though going the up sized tires. On highway driving

Was rereading this and a bit confused.
Why are you lowering it back down? Are you going to smaller tire then as well? my tires say 31X10.5 and there is noway I could run bigger. Although you do have bumper mods.

BTW the pic above has a real nice stance to it. I like it. Our Jeeps could be related they look so much alike.

I'm going back down to 31's, plus with 5.5" lift it has a "Dog Walk" problem when flexed out. That and I might be taking a job out of state and have to freeway drive here to there 2 times a month..(wife kids staying here in MI) so free way is scary with the lift now.. I'm also putting stock bumpers back on, there is 600lbs of un-needed weight in these.
