My rear differential with the 3.73 pinion bearing busted on me so i replaced the rear differential assembly and didnt realize that it was a 3.55 they were both Dana 35c. I also noticed that the front shaft that goes from the transfer case to front differential was gone. so i installed another one i got from junkyard to keep it stock. not sure if that causes damages or not. This is my first 4x4 and not familar with setups. im not sure if them being different gear ratios can affect the jeep since i can only drive 60+ for 5 miles before shaking occurs.

As stated pull front shaft and you can drive it even if part time 4 wheel you will be turning the transfer case at two dif. speeds and not a good idea and if for some reason you put it in 4 wheel the transfer will be short lived!

Turning the driveshaft at different speeds isn't an issue at all when you are in 2wd the front output is disconnected . On vehicles with locking hubs the front drive shaft is stationary in 2wd.

I would beg to differ the trust washers in the transfer case will pay the price for turning gears at diff. speeds yes you could get away with it for a short time but for those that cant take a transfer case apart and rebuild it themselves better to take the front shaft out till the gear ratio is corrected why take a chance Just saying!

Thanks guys. I took it out and seems to not have the vibration as bad. Im going to replace my front cv axles and swap rear differential to proper size then see if i can drive better.
