2014 Help Display Computer update- MAD!!
Driving down the road in my 2014 Overland the Heads up display blanks out. some of the idiot lights and the USB starts going on off on off. I pull over play with buttons, shut it down, start it up, nothing.
Call my warranty. Told me go to dealer.
Dealer~ reset computer.. has issues, will have to call FACTORY.
Factory tells them it is a 2 layer deep software update that has to be done.
The car is back to normal... I am out $500.
I am really mad on two accounts.
1. Warranty was purchased for the computer. Not covered because a part didn't fail, does not cover updates.
2. Ticked off because there was no warning, no notices about a software update needed. Nothing. Dealer had to dig. I do not think I should have to pay for a factory update to their stupid uconnect. Without it the radio, air, backup camera, compass, usb charger, would NOT work.
I feel as though I was held hostage for this.

Has anyone here experienced this????

Hi Carolyn. I don't know specific answers. Jeep Customer service is a member on this site and does sometimes respond to threads. I can't remember their name. Can anyone help me out?
Now if that was my vehicle, I would have refused to pay the $500. Or at the very least I would keep climbing the ladder and *****ing as much as possible. The best way to bring attention to this is on social media. Jeep has a facebook page. I would be posting as much as possible until I got an answer or my money back. If you have a warranty and it doesn't specify updates not being covered, I would be relentless.
BS to have to pay $500 for a computer related problem on a 3 year old vehicle when you have a warranty that you paid for. Good luck.

Well, if the software was completely original, and it failed. That's a bug, and the factory should issue a patch for free. That's just my opinion. But, I'm a software developer, and if I release a software with a bug in it, I create a patch and send it to the customer for free. I would Google this issue and see if you can find others who had the same problem.
