Default 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee battery light-HELP!

I just bought my garage kept Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 (V-6) a few months ago with a clear Carfax report and only 28k miles. Once in awhile the battery light comes on. After I shut the ignition off it seems to reset. I just replaced the battery (dealer bought it after my road test). Seemed to be OK for about 1k miles and then it came on again. I checked the Chrysler recall website and the alternator on this model is not part of the nationwide recall (figures). No other issues, but its concerning as we are planning a 2000 mile trip soon. Any recommendations. No code lights.

Hi LwechterPA,

Has your dealership done any further diagnostics for you concerning this light?

The dealership was helpful, but the warranty has run out. The charging system they told me was OK...no issues. Not having any problems, but concerned with an upcoming trip. Interesting that the battery light goes out after I power down the ignition and restart shortly after it happens.

If you do go back in for anything, I'd be happy to step in and follow up with the service team at your dealership. Let me know in a PM with your VIN if needed.

Kori:
I am bringing the Jeep in for the sun visor recall and they promised me a loaner car for the 4 hour repair. I will reach out to you if there is any further issue with the battery light. The TIMP is $1100 installed with a 2 year warranty unlimited mileage and its a "reconditioned" unit. No new one is available at this time.
