I had the transmission line next to the radiator on the passenger side blow the clamp and saturated my engine bay with Trans fluid. 2 days later it began to run rough but I made it home and then it would not start again. The red lighting indicator is on and I have a long list of codes ranging from the throttle position sensor to the cam position sensor to the cooling & oil pressure.
The ECM became saturated and the whole wiring loom is completely saturated with trans fluid. I replace the ECM with a new one from flashmasters and the same is happening. I'm thinking the ECM is ok now but the wiring itself has become the problem? I did pop up the fuse box TCIP or whatever it's called and it was not wet one single but. No blown fuses or any saturation inside or under that fuse box.
I don't mind replacing the wiring harness but it appears to run to the back of the engine. To me it appears the whole engine has to come out just to replace that wiring harness.
Anyone with experience have any suggestions on what the issue might be or how hard it is to remove that wiring harness?
Thanks guys, I've watched these forms for a few years because I have 2 Cherokees. I guess not I'm part of it.
I'd be less inclined to suspect the harness wiring unless somehow you can tell that the magic smoke has escaped from it. Degreaser and an engine bay pressure wash might help. Going forward, the more likely prospect is to suspect contamination in connectors. Buy some of this stuff and spend an afternoon cleaning all connectors and/or unprotected electrical rotating components (aka alternator). I know this is too little, too late. FWIW I respect your attempt to resolve the issue, but evidently reacting by replacing the ECM wasn't your first best choice. Given your circumstances, this stuff is your friend
