2011 GC Suspension
The new 2011 suspension interests me. My wife has a walking disability and can not get into a high vehicle very well. Steps are not a good option. We have a 2006 Grand Cherokee Hemi. We live in Washington State and at time a lift of 2-3 inches would be a benifit for her in the snow especialy. I am considering the new GC because of it's ajustible suspension. Lowering when parked and at 2x2, and lifting when in 4x4 sounds good.
1. Is this a good system?
2. Do they make a aftermarket system that I could install on the 2006 and have it work low for when needed and improve off road and hight as well?
thanks

My experiance with this platfrom is on Mercedes-Benz ML of which it shares a platfrom (too far along @ time of divorce). It came out for the 2006 model year. Air suspension problems have not stood out. Have seen a few high milage ones come in with rear airbag leaks (not too bad as they are separate from the shock and very easy to put in-not the case in the front but have not had to replace one yet). Commpressors will wear out after a while as will any vehicle that uses air suspension (particularly if you raise and lower ride hieght a lot). What i can't tell you is if they used the same supplier for air suspension parts. Jeep should expect that more of there customers will use it off road and may have beefed up certain parts, but it is too soon to tell if Jeeps version will be more or less problematic-give em two years or so to at least work out the bugs.
