I am new to the forum and could not seem to find any info. on an apparently large problem with the actuator on the transfer case. I just returned from the dealer who tells me the actuator is bad and the part is so badly back-ordered that I could probably not get one for at least one year. So, no 4WD for a year is not really acceptable. I got details on the part and it looks like most dealers are severly back ordered. The dealer's parts computer shows 423 average demand per week which would lead one to believe the part is no good so perhaps a junk yard part would not be a good solution.

I also found an AutoWeek article that says some Cherokee owner's are blaming the recent transfer case recall and that Chrysler has denied this.

Anyone have a thought or solution on how to resolve this? I was thinking of trying to rebuild the acutator myself as why have a 4WD vehicle with no 4WD.
