2004 WJ Starting Problem
2004 WJ 4.0. 293k on odometer, supposedly around 170k on motor.
Cold weather dependent, crank no start.
Verified fuel pressure with a gauge, 49psi with key on. Doesn't leak off pressure with key off.
My only key and key fob are green. Key fob doesnt work. Skim light goes away once started and when I crank it over. I don't think it's a skim issue?
The tachometer doesn't move when cranking but all the other gauges/lights work. I can see RPM on my scantool though. Around 180RPM, is that fast enough?
There is an electrical issues in the drivers door jamb. I can't roll the back windows up or down. Sometimes have to wiggle the black boot in the door jamb to use the front windows. If this isn't related to my starting issue then disregard. I couldnt care less about the inconvenience.
If I fiddle with the throttle while cranking sometimes it'll start hitting like it's close to starting but usually won't start.
If its above 50-55F itll start real easily. The colder below 55F it gets, the harder it is to start.
So far have replaced the following parts
2x crankshaft position sensor
camshaft position sensor
inlet air temperature sensor
engine coolant temperature sensor
throttle position sensor
idle air control valve
coil rail
spark plugs
fuel filter/regulator
air filter
battery
starter
positive+negative cables, i.e big 7 kit from jeepcables.com
all related relays+fuses, i.e asd, fuel pump, pcm, starter, injectors
ccv elbows and hoses
I'm working alone so it's hard for me to verify spark or do other testing that requires one person turn the key and other person to test.
I'm about to tow the jeep to a shop and let them at it. But would really rather not. I'm just out of ideas at this point. So I'm reaching out here for any ideas.
