I have an issue with a new to me 2004 WJ 4.0L, the idle seems high to me and I can't figure it out. It runs right at 975-1000 rpm's warmed up in neutral and 875 rpm's in gear. Had several of these 4.0 WJ's over the years and most idled 750 after warm up I have a scanner no codes present unless I unplug the IAC or TPS and then it will throw one.

Throttle body and IAC passage have been cleaned with no change, when I do an ECU reset it behaves well (idles around 650 in neutral cold start) until things warm up and then the problem persists. The only variable I can introduce that makes a difference are the headlights, there's a noticeable drop in rpm's (80-100 on the scanner monitor) when they are switched on and it stays that way until turned off.

What I have done so far with components:
1. Replaced IAC with OEM, battery reset no change.
2. Replaced TPS with OEM, battery reset no change.
3. Replaced MAP with OEM, battery reset no change.

I've been all over looking for a vacuum leak and can't find anything, live data on my scan tool looks good for TPS values when throttle position changes. I've removed and cleaned up the block and chassis grounds, removed and cleaned the three connectors on the ECM no change.

One of the driver circuits in the PCM was the cause of the high idle, replaced the module and all is well.
