2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trans Questions
All bought this jeep back in Dec from a friend had a broken number six piston. Jeep has 202,000 miles. In excellent shape as far as body and interior. He was going to scrap it. I couldn't pass it up. So I dropped a motor in the jeep with 80,000 miles. Ran great through the winter months, until one day we got a 70 degree day and I did about a 3 hour trip. Towards the end of the trip I noticed a very weird vibration and shake in the wheel. Shortly later I started to get a very violent noise coming from what sounded like the transmission. Sounded almost like sticking a screw driver in fan blades. Metal on metal. I limped the jeep home and let it rest. Had a buddy that's a mechanic come over next day to check it out, jumped in and it ran great couldn't get it to do it. Now since it has warmed up out side it's like clock work after an hour of driving the vibration starts followed by the violent sound. Let it sit for an hour or so and you are good for another hour. I have pull the transmission stick oil is bright pink no burnt smell. I never get a transmission over temp light. If your are driving it and get it to do it, bump transmission to neutral noise and vibration is gone. Wth could be causing this. I am at a loss, I figure since Dec something would finally fly apart and show me where the real issue is, but it won't die!!! This only being able to drive an hour is pissing me off! If I can't resolve it soon I may be the one to scrape it lmao!
