Hi Guys.



I have a recently purchased 2002 4.0 Grand Cherokee with a transmission issue. Driving it home, it won't go out of 1st gear until I get some speed up to 3200 rpm. When I let off the gas, it goes into 2nd gear 53 mph-3200 rpm's but that's it.

Edit to add this has 181,000 miles on it. Engine starts strong, transmission feels strong as well.

I have a feeling I need to replace some sensors in the transmission but I'm not sure exactly what set I need. Having done some research I found references to two eBay listings but they are slightly different.

did you check fluid condition, and did you check for transmission codes?

Ugh! In my excitement to join the forum and ask this question I forgot to go do that first.

BTW, no engine warning light except the air bag warning- that's a project for another day though.

Transmission fluid looks good.... frick! Still can't find that scanner. I'd run over to Autozone and use theirs but I live in the middle of nowhere which means a 17 minute drive to get there. Not a good idea. Still looking.

If that's not the problem and these are the right parts, at least I have new parts.
