The extreme cold weather blew out both my rear shocks and I bought new Monroe Sensatracs and I have never replaced shocks on the Jeep before so looking fo any avdice and tips before I decide to put them on myself.

Do the shock bolts come out from the inside towards the center of the vehicle? Are the outer nuts welded to the brackets? All the local shops want anywhere from 100-130 bucks to install them but I'd like to do it myself and put the money towards something else.

It is my daily driver so I need to get the job done and not be without it so I would like to know as much as I can before I dig into it.

My ZJ just has a nut at the upper mount that behind the splash shield and bolts with nuts at the bottom. Pretty simple, didn't even need a jack.

 

So there's no welded nuts on the brackets?

Not at the axle, just a nut and bolt. The upper is a stud with a nut an washer.


I just looked it up and found there is a welded nut at the upper mount. A little different from a ZJ.
