2000 Overheat at Idle

Default 2000 Overheat at Idle

jeeps has normal temp when constant drive but overheats at idle...looked like the fan never kicked on...QUESTION: what temperature should fan kick on 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 limited electric fan cut on....

did search a bit... this model does not have clutch fan...just large electric that fits with the radiator...gotta be the electric fan as i never saw it kick on...will troubleshoot accordingly

between getting off work and sun going down pulled the cts and cranked her up...fan still did not come on....will the fan cut on with cts unplugged if that fan relay under the passenger light is bad??? am going to pull the fan tomorrow and run power to it and test.

like anybody cares but may be useful for somebody in the future... tested the fan with jumper from battery...not cutting on... then tested my fan from my xj... that worked... the plastic connector on the wiring harness on the grand melted so I had to wire in a new connector that I had from a spare window motor.... got fan from jy and every thing is good now... this site is great!
